HOMEGROWN INITIATIVES
A boutique living space created for art students, creatives, and professionals. HEART blends home and studio to inspire creativity, collaboration, and accessible living.
Established in 2022, HEART is an ongoing, active major initiative under YLYH to ensure creatives have a safe, comfortable space to call home and their very own creative space.
YLYH has subsidized the rooms for creatives under 2 different bursaries:
I. CREATIVE BURSARY:
RM200 off for all local creative students
II. FINANCIAL BURSARY:
Additional room subsidization for local young
adults working in the creative industry.
Free event space at HEART:
HEART also offers free event spaces for creatives to utilize for art events as we believe in reducing barriers to access and supporting underfunded creatives. Deposit is not required as well for event spaces as we trust that organisers will treat HEART with care, kindness, and community spirit.
This ongoing bursary is dedicated to supporting children and single-mothers organizations, offering both financial aid and purpose-driven workshops that empower, uplift and create lasting change within the communities it serves.
Established in 2022 in honour of our Chairman’s late mother, it was made possible through contributions from friends and family during her funeral, which YLYH then matched to amplify its impact. Today, it continues as a living tribute to her legacy of care and compassion.
COLLABORATIONS
A vibrant celebration of Malaysian creativity, this annual art festival brings together workshops, performances, and exhibitions across Kampung Attap, realised through the strong support from YLYH and its key donors. More than just an event, it serves as a platform for artists, musicians, and cultural practitioners to expose their work with the wider community, in close collaboration with The Zhongshan Building, Pentago House, and HEART Residence. As a neighbourhood effort, the festival embodies the collective spirit of Kampung Attap.
Established in 2022, the festival was created with the vision of activating Kampung Attap as the art hub of Kuala Lumpur. By highlighting the neighbourhood’s unique character and fostering collaboration among creatives, it continues to grow, celebrating heritage while driving contemporary expression.
Partnerships with Kakiseni, KL Shakespeare Players, Dama Asia, and many local creatives demonstrate our belief in collective impact through the arts.
YLYH empowers underprivileged communities by bridging them with creative organisations, providing funding support for programmes that nurture creativity, build skills, and open opportunities that may otherwise be out of reach due to financial barriers.
Examples of collaborations for 2025:
- Kakiseni Workshops at HEART Residence: Providing highly subsidized art workshops for the public for 1 year (public only pay a minimal commitment fee)
- KL Shakespeare Players at SMK Convent Jalan Peel: Providing theater workshops for the students at school and culminating in a school showcase after 6 months.
- PJ Speech and Drama at PPR Desa Rejang: Providing unconventional drama English classes for PPR children ages 8-12 to improve their English proficiency level and also culminating in a showcase after 6 months.
- KL City Opera at Dignity For Children Center: Providing opera classes to 20 children from DFC for 8 weeks culminating in an opera performance alongside KL City Opera in November 2025.
SUPPORT & SPONSORSHIPS
YLYH provides one-off contributions to organizations seeking financial aid, offering support where it is needed most. These contributions reflect our commitment to responding with care and generosity to meaningful causes brought to our attention.
Over the years, we have extended this support to organizations such as Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation, HOSPIS Malaysia, Little Sisters of the Poor, Montfort Boys Town, Pertubuhan Keluarga Orang-Orang Bermasalah Pembelajaran, Make-A-Wish, and many more, ensuring help is given to them to continue their important services for the community.

sustainable development goals
1. SDG 4: Quality Education
Ensuring inclusive and equitable education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.
We run art education programmes in collaboration with multiple art organisations. These programmes provide young talents with the opportunity to learn, grow, and express themselves through creativity and artistic expression.
II. SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
Reducing inequalities of access and opportunity within communities.
We established the House of Art in Kampung Attap, an affordable co-living residence subsidized by YLYH for creatives. This initiative ensures that young artists have a safe and affordable space to live, pursue their dreams, and remain in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s cultural scene.
III. SDG 11: Sustainable Cities
& Communities
Making cities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
Our annual PESZTA Festival in Kampung Attap celebrates Malaysian artists, musicians, and cultural practitioners. By creating platforms for community-based arts engagement, we contribute to a vibrant and sustainable cultural ecosystem in Kuala Lumpur.
IV. SDG 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth
Promoting sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth.
By supporting the creative economy extensively, YLYH helps to create opportunities, exposure, and livelihoods for local artists and cultural workers. We champion the arts not just as an expression, but as a viable and sustainable profession.
V. SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
Strengthening partnerships for sustainable development.
Collaboration is at the heart of our work. From partnering with leading arts organisations to working with local communities, YLYH builds meaningful connections that amplify the impact of arts and culture across Malaysia.
